The Nursing Foundation of Rhode Island held its 2008 Scholarship Awards
reception on July 16th in the auditorium of St. Joseph's Hospital Fatima
Unit, North Providence. Trudy Mulvey, NFRI President, welcomed the award
recipients and their guests. Ms. Mulvey introduced Debra A. Douglas, St.
Joseph Hospital Senior Vice President for Patient Services and Chief
Nursing Officer, who congratulated the award recipients and noted that
the nursing profession inspires a passion in its practitioners and the
many different opportunities in which nurses can practice. Margaret
Pfeiffer, Administrative Director of Psychiatric Services at St.
Joseph's Hospital and a member of the NFRI Board, also welcomed the
awardees and guests. Scholarships totaling $14,000 were awarded to
sixteen undergraduate nursing students and one graduate student. Since
its inception, the Nursing Foundation of Rhode Island has awarded
$109,250 in scholarships to students studying nursing at Rhode Island
schools.
