Nursing Foundation of Rhode Island Announces 2003 Undergraduate
Nursing Scholarships Awards
Nursing Foundation President Trudy Mulvey said, in announcing the scholarship recipients, "The nursing shortage is acute and projected to grow. An adequate supply of nurses is vital to our continued ability to provide quality health care. It is important for us to provide financial aid to students who choose nursing as a career. I am pleased the Foundation was able to provide this level of scholarship support as these awards often provide the extra funds needed for students to successfully complete their courses."
Recipients of the 2003 undergraduate scholarships were: Community College of Rhode Island students Dina Belshaw, Jill Ann Berk, Sandy Rego-Faford and Amy Gammell; Rhode Island College students Sara R. Burton and Clyde Gardner; Salve Regina University student Genevieve Ostiguy; and University of Rhode Island students Susan Lisi and Christine Lefebvre.
The Nursing Foundation of Rhode Island was founded in 1991 to promote nursing. Its mission is threefold: to increase public awareness of nursing and its role in promoting health and well-being, to foster the advancement of nursing through the awarding of research grants and scholarships; and to preserve the history of nursing in Rhode Island.
