Nursing Foundation of Rhode Island
Awards 2010 Nurse Education
Scholarships |
Sixteen nursing
students from area colleges were awarded
scholarships for the upcoming academic
year by the Nursing Foundation of Rhode
Island. The scholarship awards were
presented at a reception held on July 21st
at the URI College of Nursing, Kingston,
RI. The scholarships, ranging from $250 to
$1,000, were awarded to students based on
their good academic standing and
demonstrated need.
Dr. Dayle Joseph,
Dean of the URI College of Nursing,
welcomed students and their guests to the
College noting how important the work of
the Nursing Foundation is in assisting
students financially in these difficult
economic times. Jeanne Sherman, NFRI Vice
President, was joined by Foundation
Trustees and donors in presenting the
scholarship awards.
Scholarship recipients

Kathleen McKeon of Cranston and Jennifer
Rice of Coventry; Rhode Island College

Nursing Foundation Accepting 2010
Scholarship Applications
The
Nursing Foundation of Rhode Island is
accepting applications for its 2010 Nurse
Scholarship Program. Scholarships range from
$500 to $1,000 and are awarded on a
competitive basis to students enrolled in
Rhode Island schools of nursing including
degree, diploma and practical nursing
programs. Students must demonstrate
financial need and have maintained a 3.0 GPA
(2.0 for practical nursing) in their
formative years. Preference is given to
full-time students who are residents of
Rhode Island and who are in the latter half
of their nursing program.
The application deadline for the
scholarships is June 1st for RN students and
May 1st for practical nurse students.
Notification for the practical nurse
scholarships is in May and for the RN
scholarships in mid-July. For details on the

Nursing have received scholarships for the
